The Shanghai Directory hosts four flagship communities — Entrepreneurs, Travel, Education, and Sports — and we're open to organizers who want to build the next one. If you run a recurring, well-run group in Shanghai, you can claim a space here. Shanghai's foreign resident population has been recovering since 2023, and the communities that are thriving are the ones with consistent programming and real moderation.
What a community gets
- A dedicated directory page with your group's description and calendar.
- Membership tools and a private channel for verified members.
- Listing in the site's navigation under Communities.
- Editorial support for events and a monthly feature slot.
Who qualifies
Organizers who run regular (at least monthly) programming, maintain a membership base, and can commit to moderation. We vet for legitimacy and relevance — this isn't a listings board for one-off events.
How to apply
Tell us about your community: its focus, size, cadence, and what you'd use a directory page for. We review applications within two weeks and onboard approved organizers with a short setup call.
